New Moon begins with Bella’s 18th birthday party, which she wasn’t looking forward to as she was not the type of person that enjoyed birthday parties. Especially since she would be ‘technically’ a year older than Edward. The party was held at the Cullen’s house with their family and Bella. When Bella arived at their house, she started opening the presents and accidently got a papercut. A single drop of blood oozed from her tiny cut, which was when Edward reacted suddenly pushing Bella out of the way with six ravenous vampires looking on.

The next day Edward tells Bella that he was leaving Forks, it would be too dangerous for them to be together and also to think as if he never existed. Then Bella became depressed all the memories she had with Edward were gone. As months past she started remembering the close friendship she had with Jacob Black. Jacob and Bella started to spend time together and developed a close relationship, Jacob saidto Bella that he would never hurt her the way Edward had.

One night Bella and Jacob went out to the movies with one of Bella’s other friend Mike, which she hasn’t been talking to as much. A flu was going around and Mike had the flu and had to go home early. Jacob said to Bella that he might have the same flu as Mike, as he began to not feel well.

Bella tried many times to see Jacob but his dad Billy would not let her see him when he was ’sick’. Finally one day she saw Jacob but he had changed, his long hair was cropped short, he had become really muscular and he treated Bella unfriendly. Jacob had a secret that he wasn’t allowed to tell and said  that he had told her this before and she had to figure it out herself. She figured out later that he was a werewolf with his friends.

Jacob had promised to take Bella cliff diving,  Bella couldn’t wait and went on her own. When Alice Cullen had seen Bella jumping off the cliff she had thought she wanted to die. Alice told Edward her vision, and so he went to Italy where the Volturi are ( a royal vampire family)where he would kill himself. When Bella found out what Edward was going to do, with Alice she went to Italy to stop him.

When she arrives there Edward was about to step into the sunlight which would reveal what he is to the public in the hope that he would be killed. Bella frantically tries to stop him. . . . . . .

I dont want to spoil the ending so I wont continue. Its a really great book to read and once you start you will want to keep on reading it.

On Friday the 28th of August we had book week, and our theme this year is “Jungle Bungle”. Bonny709, Anac7, Suha and I all dressed up as Leopards, which we all got it from the book called The Little Leopard. The book week parade was really amazing, fun and enjoyable because we got to see all the other students in our school dressed up as their favourite character. There was also a performance called the Book Safari, which was about one guy and one girl playing as each character from the books they have chosen to play as. It was a really  exciting day for me and I will remember this event for when I graduate from primary school next year.

For week four and five, term 3’s homework grid we had to discuss with our parents about our High Flyer Criteria. My parents said that having a high flyer award gives me a opportunity to excell in many areas in my work. Recieving a certificate for my achievements shows that I have set a high standard and do my personal best. It is rewarding to have a high flyer award in my portfolio and prepares me for the work ahead in high school.

For my personal research project I will be doing it on Twilight the books and the movie. I will be looking into the characters playing in the movie, the author who wrote the novels and the story line. It will be interesting to find out how the scences in the movie were made and look more into the actors playing the characters.

At the moment I am reading Princess Diaries- Take Two. This is my response to the question “Which character would you like as a friend.” The main character in the book is Mia Thermopolis, the princess of Genovia. I just started reading the book and I would like to have Mia as a friend because she is funny, intelligent, and responsible person who would help me in my homework and is also  nice and caring. The author of the book is Meg Cabot and puts a lot of detail into her writing which makes the story more interesting. Meg Cabot most of the time writes about teenage girls who have problems in their life and solves the issue at the end of the book.

What I have been reading is the Twilight series. Its about a supernatural love story by the author Stephanie Meyer. The main characters are Isabella Swan (Bella), Edward Cullen and Jacob Black.  The problem is that Edward and Jacob hate each other because vampires and werewolves are natural enemies. The four books in the series are called Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I finished all the books and I like the second book out of the Twilight series called New Moon.

In term 2, our teacher Mrs Paladino has been reading pages of Storm Boy to us by the author Colin Theile.  While our teacher has been reading the book to us, we have been writing words that we don’t use often or are important words in the story. We also have been summarizing the parts of the book and using the words we wrote down in our paragraph. Later on after we have read book, we would all be able to watch the movie.

On the 23rd of June we had the Power Community Youth Group visit the upper primary classes and taught us about many chemicals that are in tabacco that aren’t good for us. The athletes were Wayde Thompson, Moronia Gerrard, Jonathon Giles and Matt Thomas. They said that tabacco contans up to 4.000 chemicals and causes heart disease and lung disease. Some of the chemicals are Ammonia, Butane, Cadmium, Carbon Monoxide, Phosphorus, Arsenic, Methonol, Hydrogen, Cyanide, Toluene and Nicotine.It was a great expirience to learn about things that we didn’t know and I hope they teach us more.

In week 5 we have been working on abstract art. The person who created abstract art is the artist named Wassily Kandinsky. The materials that we needed were 3-4 pieces of coloured papers, an A3 paper (black or white) for the background, glue, compass and a led pencil. Our abstract art pieces were made out of interconnected circles that we had to join together. I named my abstract artwork “happy” because the colours and the pattern made me feel that way.

I believe that leaders are made because people can be taught to have leadership qualities. Some of the qualities to become a leader is confidence, organization, responsible, team skills, taking risks and setting good example. These qualities can be taught at home by your parents, at school by your teacher and a sports club by your coach. So therefore I believe that we all have a opportunity to become leaders. Its about taking risks, having a go and learning something new that helps to develop self-confidence.
